Czech Railway Administration has a zoning decision for Prague-Smíchov railway station

1 February 2022

The planned modernization of the railway station in Smíchov, Prague, has progressed to the next phase. The railway administration has now obtained a final change in the zoning decision for the reconstruction of the railway station. The organization wants to apply for a building permit in the first quarter of this year and prepare a tender for the contractor. The report stated this on Twitter today. The station should become part of the transport terminal in the future.

The railway administration is preparing a complete reconstruction of the station together with the Prague City Hall, which is preparing a new transport terminal here. The railway part of the project includes a complete reconstruction of the station. The plan is the reconstruction of the station building, including the check-in hall, as well as platforms, underpasses, technological equipment and the railway bottom and top. The station, including platforms, should be completely covered.

The entire station and its surroundings should expect further changes in the coming years, which the capital will be used for. A bus terminal is to be built on the roof of the building, a P + R parking house for 1000 cars and a new footbridge over the railway to connect Smíchov, Radlice and the new Smíchov City district, which is being built between the railway station and Na Knížecí Street.

The previous government of Andrej Babiš (ANO) in the past planned that the headquarters of the Railway Administration, the Directorate of Roads and Motorways, the Ministry of Transport and Czech Railways could be moved to the transformed station area. The current management of the Ministry of Transport has not yet commented on this project.
