Reconstruction of six apartment buildings belonging to the city will begin in Opava in February. The city invests CZK 43 million in repairs, and received a subsidy of CZK 13 million for revitalization. Work should continue until the autumn, probably in November, announced Lada Dobrovolná from the city’s press department.
Reconstruction awaits houses number 3, 5, 7, 9 and 11 in Hrnčířská Street and the adjacent number 14 in Masarykova Street. “We want to improve life in other city apartment buildings. That is why we will replace windows, repair roofs, insulate facades, install new blinds, lightning conductors. Restorers will repair works of art on stone and stucco facades, added Dobrovolná.
The Opava City Hall has the houses in its possession repaired on an ongoing basis. In the last three years, three houses on Horní náměstí have been renovated for CZK 17 million. The revitalization of the apartment block on Hrnčířská Street cost more than 12 million. The replacement of windows, insulation and the roof of two houses in Hobzíkova Street cost CZK 11.5 million.
The city owns 551 housing units, including more than a hundred social housing, such as apartments in the Senior Center. If any of them is released, it is immediately offered for rent in the form of a tender.
