From March 1, the PPF Telecom Group will rename its mobile activities in Bulgaria, Hungary and Serbia from the current name Telenor to Yettel. The company launched the transition to the new brand today and should end by the end of March, according to a PPF statement.
“Our business strategy pursues three priorities. We want to provide the best customer experience, operate state-of-the-art telecommunications networks and achieve the highest levels of efficiency and profitability. A strong brand is essential to fulfilling this vision,” said Marek Sláčík, CEO of TMT CEE, PPF Telecom Group.
Yettel will complement the portfolio of two other brands operated by PPF Telecom Group, namely O2 and CETIN. The O2 operator operates in the Czech Republic and Slovakia, and CETIN operates a telecommunications infrastructure operator in the Czech Republic, Bulgaria, Hungary and Serbia.
PPF Group acquired Telenor’s telecommunications operators in Bulgaria, Montenegro, Hungary and Serbia in July 2018. The acquisition led to the creation of PPF Group’s telecommunications division under the name PPF Telecom Group. Telenor sold in Montenegro last year. The group currently has 18.3 million customers and 12,000 employees in five countries, with operating EBITDA of 1.4 billion euros in fiscal year 2020.
PPF is active in 25 countries. It invests in a number of industries, from financial services to telecommunications, media, biotechnology, real estate to engineering. The group owns assets of 40.3 billion euros and employs 80,000 people worldwide.
