The Polish government plans to adopt a resolution on the biomedical sector development plan for 2021-2030, the aim of which is Poland to become a leader in the biomedical sector in Central and Eastern Europe, according to the list of legislative and program works of the Council of Ministers. Adoption of a resolution on this matter is planned for the first quarter of 2022.
The biomedical sector is defined as a strategic sector, and as such it should be actively supported by the government, and the initiatives implemented will be aimed at coordinating activities and supporting the construction of an ecosystem friendly to the development of the biomedical sector, it was announced.
The main goals of the plan are:
1) improving drug safety;
2) increasing the availability of innovative therapies for patients;
3) improving the health of patients;
4) optimization of the health care system.
The plan addresses the needs of the healthcare sector and its implementation will focus on finding solutions with the greatest commercialization potential and having a real impact on improving patient health, it was also stated.
The priority directions for the development of the biomedical sector are:
– targeted / personalized medicine;
– translational medicine, clinical trials and solutions supporting treatment effectiveness;
– diagnostic, therapeutic and supportive tools for treatment and rehabilitation.
