PAIH: The value of investment projects increased y / y to over EUR 3.5 billion in 2021

Polish Investment and Trade Agency (PAIH) recorded an increase in the value of the portfolio of successfully completed projects at the end of 2021 to a total of over EUR 3.5 billion compared to EUR 2.7 billion recorded in 2020, the Agency said. As a result of investors’ decisions, approx. 18 thousand people will find work in Poland. people. The increase in the value of investments amounted to PLN 700 million compared to 2019 – a record year in terms of investments so far, the Agency emphasized.

At the end of 2021, PAIH closed 96 projects (including 37 in Belarus under the Poland. Business Harbor program).

“This is a golden year for PAIH. You can see that hard work pays off, and EUR 3.5 billion of foreign direct investment is the success of the entire team and our partners. Behind these figures there is not only money, but also new jobs,” said the president PAIH Krzysztof Drynda.

“There will be nearly 18 thousand of them. I am glad that PAIH, as an agency responsible for foreign investments in our country, can support the Polish economy so effectively,” added Piotr Nowak, the head of the Ministry of Development and Technology, supervising PAIH.

According to the Agency, the largest investor in terms of financial outlays in 2021 was South Korea, investing EUR 1.9 billion in Poland and creating 1,967 jobs. The next places were taken by Germany, implementing projects worth EUR 155 million, generating 192 jobs, and the USA for a total amount of EUR 363.91 million, giving 5,414 jobs.

Poland was this year an attractive place for developing investment activities in the following sectors: BSS (IT + SSC), R&D, electromobility, automotive, medical, electronic, construction materials and chemical.

“As an Agency, we are already focusing not only on strengthening the development of sectors important for the country, but also on attracting investors from the industries of the future: electromagnetic, electronics and IT. PAIH reported that the greatest number of investment projects was attracted by the Mazowieckie Voivodeship, where 27 projects were located, Dolnośląskie – 15 and Małopolskie and Śląskie – 10 projects. The largest value of the investment was located in the Śląskie Voivodeship.
