Ramp raised nearly PLN 220 million for development on new markets

Ramp – a startup that simplifies access to products and services based on crypto technologies, acquired nearly PLN 220 million (USD 53 million) in sSeries A, it annouced. The obtained funds will help in the even faster development of Ramp in new markets, including the United States.

The startup completed the round within six months of obtaining PLN 37 million in the Seed round. Thus, Ramp quickly joined the group of the largest startups in Poland, so far comparable rounds of financing in Poland have only been collected by Booksy, Brainly, DocPlanner and Uncapped, it further annouced.

The A Ramp series was led by the Balderton Capital fund, known for its investments, incl. in JOKR, MySQL, Revolut or TrueCaller. Existing investors also participated in the round – NFX, Galaxy Digital, Seedcamp and Firstminute Capital funds as well as business angels, including Taavet Hinrikus (founder of Wise) and Francesco Simonesci (founder of TrueLayer). The group of Ramp investors also includes Mozilla and Polish business angels, including Piotr Pisarz (CEO and founder of Uncapped) and Bartek Pucek.

The funds raised will help to accelerate the growth of Ramp in new markets, including the United States. Ramp’s turnover grew by 3,000% in one year. three more times by the end of next year.

Ramp works with over 400 partners who use the startup solution in their applications. These are i.a. Opera browser, popular NFT games Axie Infinity (a play-to-earn game with up to 2 million users a day) and Sorare, or Dapper Laps (creators of CryptoKitties and NBA Top Shot). Ramp’s partners are also cryptocurrency wallets, including Trust Wallet, which is used by over 10 million users, and Argent, listed in the note.

As part of the investment, Rana Yared, general partner at Balderton Capital, who previously was a partner at Goldman Sachs for 14 years, will join the Ramp board. Morgan Beller, general partner at NFX and co-creator of the Libra digital currency, joined the Ramp board shortly before.

Ramp is a Polish startup that develops a comprehensive payment infrastructure for applications using cryptocurrencies and other digital assets.
