In its first public electronic auction, Brno auctioned off two dilapidated apartment buildings in Milady Horáková Street for CZK 131 million, announced councilor for property Róbert Čuma (Pirates). The starting price of the two connected buildings was CZK 28.8 million. It is not yet clear who offered the highest price, according to Čuma, the city could still knowTueday. One of the houses is listed. During its reconstruction, everything will need to be consulted with conservationists.
The auction concerned houses in Milady Horákové Street No. 17 and 19 at the Náměstí 28. října tram stop. According to Čuma, the auction was conducted by an external company, which will only send a protocol to the city. “It will be clear who the buyer is. The contract could then be concluded quickly,” Chuma said.
He has stated in the past that this is the first electronic voluntary auction of surplus property of the city, for which there is no use. “I am glad that we have adopted this method of monetization, because it is the most transparent way we can sell or offer real estate to citizens,” said Čuma.
The city sees several advantages in the monetization process. The auction is public, held electronically and can be attended by anyone, even more interested, after meeting the conditions set by law. A higher price than expected by an expert opinion is expected to be auctioned.
On his twitter account, Deputy Mayor Petr Hladík (KDU-ČSL) reminded that he offered these houses to the entrepreneur Libor Procházek as an alternative to eight historic houses in the center, which he demanded from the city in exchange for land in the sports complex behind Lužánky. According to Hladík, Procházka called them worthless at the time. At that time, the city sought to acquire land and build a new football stadium. A few years ago, the construction of a hockey hall was also planned here. This year, Brno found support in the matter, but Procházek’s company appealed and awaits the judgment of the regional court.
