Zalando will open two more logistics centers in Poland in Bydgoszcz and in Biały Błota. In total, more than 4,000 jobs will be created in both centers, the company said.
The logistics center in Bydgoszcz will have a total area of 140,000 m2, including office buildings. In the long term, it will employ up to 3,500 people. The opening of the facility is planned for the second quarter of 2023, according to the announcement.
The logistics center in Biała Błota, already under construction, will occupy over 100,000 sqm and will provide additional warehouse space. Approximately 800 employees will find employment there. Its opening is scheduled for March 2022.
The choice of Bydgoszcz and its surroundings was influenced, among others, by proximity to customers in Poland and other nearby markets. Factors such as the labor potential of the region and the location in close proximity to other Zalando facilities in Poland, allowing for better project synergy, also spoke in favor of the location of the investment.
“The investment in Bydgoszcz and its vicinity will allow us to expand our European logistics network and support the development of the Zalando Lounge shopping club, which has become popular with customers in all our markets – including, in particular, Poland. For the first time, we will have two logistics centers in one city, which is unique to our logistics network, it will provide us with the opportunity to unleash new potential in the creation of seamlessly collaborative teams to provide even more convenience to our customers,” said Zalando Martin Rost, offprice senior vice president.
The company is also planning additional investments in consultation with local authorities, including the renovation and construction of new stretches of road in the vicinity of Zalando’s emerging facilities.
Logistics centers in Bydgoszcz and Bialy Błota are another Zalando investments in Poland, after the facilities in Gryfino, Olsztynek and Głuchów (Łódź), it was noted.
