Poczta Polska signed a new agreement with the consortium of Bank Pocztowy, PKO Bank Polski and eService Sp. zoo. in the field of cashless payment services, the operator said. The number of POS terminals is to increase to 15,000 with 12 thousand over the next 3 years, it annouced.
The new agreement between Poczta Polska and the consortium, covering the next 3 years, will allow to increase not only the number of POS terminals used by Poczta from 12 to 15 thousand, but also enable the launch of other modern payment solutions.
“The offer of modern and various non-cash payments will allow us to effectively compete for customers on the market. Poczta Polska pays particular attention to safe and convenient solutions. The agreement with the consortium enables the provision of a wide range of such services under the lease of POS terminals, and in the future will enable the implementation of new innovative solutions,” said the vice-president of Poczta Polska, Andrzej Bodziony.
According to Poczta Polska, in 8 months of 2021 the number of card transactions increased by 14% y/y. On the other hand, the number of BLIK transactions increased by 115%. In the same period, the number of card payments with couriers also increased by 19%. The contract concluded by Poczta Polska also allows for the implementation of new payment solutions. In September this year. Multi MCC appeared, which allows you to conveniently pay by card or BLIK for purchases of Totalizator Sportowy products, and in the future it will also be possible to make payments requiring a separate MCC code.
“The agreement with Poczta Polska implements our strategic goals. On the one hand, we want to become an increasingly digital bank, providing modern services within the Poczta Polska Group. On the other hand, Bank Pocztowy actively supports those activities that reduce the level of exclusion of Polish citizens in terms of using the financial market offer, including in particular non-cash payments. The new services that the consortium will provide in the future will support activities for the development of the digital society in Poland,” said the vice president after President of Bank Pocztowy, Jakub Słupiński.
Poczta Polska currently has 8,500 POS terminals in 4,600 own branches and 3,500 mobile POS terminals used by couriers. This is the most numerous network of POS terminals supported by eService from a single entity. This gives Poczta Polska the position of the largest customer served by the leader of the Polish payment services market, the company emphasized.
