Polish Budimex is bidding for contracts for transport construction in the Czech Republic

4 November 2021

The largest Polish construction company Budimex S.A. expands to the Czech Republic. At present, it is already bidding for contracts for transport constructions under the Polish name, in the future through the subsidiary Budimex Construction Prague, which was established this year. The holding’s net income from the sale of products, goods and materials last year amounted to PLN 8.4 billion (approximately CZK 46.6 billion). This follows from an announcement from Budimex by Denisa Marynčáková and the Polish spokesperson of the holding, Michał Wrzosek.

“The connection between our company and the Czech market is still growing. In 2021, Budimex S.A. sold its own residential development company Budimex Nieruchomości (now Spravia) to the Czech developer Crestyl Real Estate s.r.o. We are also implementing many construction projects near the Czech-Polish border,” said Wrzosek.

In April this year, Budimex in Poland in the West Pomeranian Voivodeship completed two sections of the S3 high-speed road, which is to be connected to the D11 motorway. Wrzosek emphasized that the connection between Budimex and the Czech market has been going on for a long time, and that the situation and arrival on the Czech market will also affect the availability and amount of funds from the European Union’s new budgetary perspective.

Although the formal requirements for public procurement do not allow Budimex to state which tenders it participates in the Czech Republic, Wrzosek said that one of the tenders in which the company failed was the modernization of the I / 43 road. This first class road leads from Brno via Svitavy, Lanškroun and Králíky to Poland towards Kladsko and Wrocław.

Budimex S.A. is the largest Polish construction company with a history since 1968. It focuses on the construction and development market, includes six companies operating in various infrastructure sectors: roads, railways, airports; construction, energy, industrial and ecological constructions. The company has 7,000 employees. In addition to Poland, it also operates in Lithuania and Germany. Next year, in addition to the Czech Republic, it also wants to expand to Slovakia.
