Pekabex Bet has a contract to build the world’s largest battery factory

Pekabex Bet, a subsidiary of Poznańska Korporacja Budowlana Pekabex has concluded a contract with SK Ecoplant for the construction of a prefabricated building structure for the investment in Lithium-ion battery separators factory phase 3 & 4 located in Dąbrowa Górnicza, Tucznawa, announced Pekabex.

The estimated value of the contract accounts for 11% of the Pekabex Group’s revenues for 2020 (last year it was PLN 952.3 million), it was reported.

“Once again, we are acquiring an order from a foreign partner in the investment regarding electromobility, which for us is a confirmation of our trust in the Pekabex Group and a well-done job. Currently, we are finishing the second stage of construction of a battery factory with an area of ​​40,000 sqm and we are immediately starting stage 3 and 4, which will have 62,000 sqm. We have committed to complete the entire structure by the end of May next year, which will be a record for such a large structure. implementation of such ambitious tasks in such a short time,” said the president of Pekabex Bet Przemysław Borek.

Korean concern SK IE Technology. belonging to the SK Group, previously announced that it plans to expand the third and fourth battery factories for electric cars in the Katowice Special Economic Zone in Dąbrowa in Silesia. It will be the company’s largest factory in the world. Production is expected to start at the end of 2023. It is estimated that the annual capacity of the planned new plants will amount to a total of 860 million sqm of separators, 430 million sqm each, according to its report.

The Pekabex Group ended the first half of this year with a record backlog of PLN 1.04 billion compared to PLN 930.7 million at the end of 2020.
