N. Macedonia plans investments of EUR 8.2 bln

The investments in several sectors of the local economy are expected to reach a total of EUR 8.175 billion in the 2021-2027 period, according to North Macedonia’s government. Some EUR 5.791 billion of the total amount is planned for public investments, whereas the remaining EUR 2.384 billion will be private investments.

The government is expecting investments worth EUR 3.144 billion in the energy sector, EUR 2.729 billion in road and railway infrastructure, EUR 798 million in the manufacturing industry and EUR 300 million in the retail sector. It also expects investments worth EUR 500 million in the public healthcare system, EUR 504 million in environment infrastructure and EUR 200 million in the tourism sector.

The country expects to attract foreign investments from companies based in Germany, Italy, Canada, Turkey, the US, Belgium, Switzerland, the Netherlands and Slovenia by 2027, according to prime minister Zoran Zaev.
