Pilsen handed over 77 flats to seniors, the disabled, single people and young families

1 June 2021

Pilsen has completed eight houses with 77 new city apartments in Zátiší in the Skvrňany district. They are for people who have difficulty obtaining rental or their own housing on the commercial market, ie seniors, the disabled, single people, families caring for a disabled child and young families as a start-up affordable housing. The first three flats were taken over today by tenants who signed leases. These were the original inhabitants of the Knetečkov locality, where the new houses replaced the original post-war ones, which were to serve only as a temporary facility, according to City councilor David Šlouf (ODS).

Pilsen is building new city apartments after 16 years. By September next year, 18 houses with a total of 183 smaller flats will be built in Zátiší. The total cost will be CZK 406 million with VAT, the first stage cost CZK 193 million.

On Monday, the city took over the first part of the revitalized four-hectare area around Línská and Kreuzmannova streets at the exit to Domažlice and D5 from the local construction company Roadfin. 20 old settlers who wanted to stay in the original location are also moving into the new flats.

“We are financing the unique and largest housing project of the city from the budget for the last 15 years. It exceeds the borders of Pilsen. The first 77 flats of 1 + kk (36 m2) and 2 + kk (49 m2) will start serving from June and July,” said Mayor Martin Baxa (ODS). Each apartment has a bathroom, kitchen with unit, balcony or terrace and cellar. It will include a shop from the autumn. “The second stage of the construction of a smaller housing estate will now begin with the demolition of the remaining 14 houses,” said Šlouf.
