KRD: Rent arrears amounted to PLN 426.5 million at the end of April, an increase by 10% y / y

The total debt in the National Debt Register database of people who have problems with timely payment of rents is currently close to PLN 426.5 million, according to the data of the National Debt Register (KRD). In 2020, it increased by nearly 10% y / y, which was mainly due to the problems of four voivodeships – Śląskie, Mazowieckie, Łódzkie and Dolnośląskie.

Almost half of the arrears (PLN 205.25 million) are unpaid bills of tenants aged between 46 – 55 and 56 – 65. People aged 36-45 have to face the largest number of obligations (9,377). Women have more to pay off, whose debt in the KRD database amounts to nearly PLN 226 million, or 52% of all rent arrears, it was reported.

According to the KRD data, the rental debt was decreasing not only in the Opole region. A similar situation also took place in the following voivodeships: Małopolskie, Pomorskie, Wielkopolskie and Lubuskie, where throughout 2020 the amount of unpaid payments by tenants was gradually decreasing. The inhabitants of the following voivodeships also have less to devote: Zachodniopomorskie, Podlaskie, Świętokrzyskie and Warmińsko-Mazurskie. There, however, the total amount of debt began to decline in the second half or the last quarter of the year, it was reported.

The announcement emphasized that rent arrears are not the only problems faced by this group of debtors. 2/3 of them are also in arrears with payments in other places. The sum of this debt is nearly PLN 378 million, which is 90% of all rent arrears. Debt purchased by secondary creditors (PLN 208 million) and unpaid alimony (almost PLN 100 million) dominate. Next on the list are financial institutions that are waiting for the return of funds in the amount of nearly PLN 32 million, they owe almost PLN 11 million to telephone operators and Internet providers, summarized.
