České Budějovice has selected the winning design for the construction of a residential complex in the Čtyři Dvory district. On an area of more than two hectares should stand six apartment buildings, where there will be several dozen apartments. Part of the project the city wants to pay for from its budget and with subsidies. The estimated amount for this stage is CZK 600 million. Representatives of the management of the České Budějovice town hall told the press today.
More than thirty studies entered their designs in the competition. The jury selected the project of architects from the Malý Chmel studio as the winner. “The competition was two-round, six proposals advanced to the second round and an agreement was reached in the second round, because we preferred the point of creating something timeless in České Budějovice. And the winning proposal fulfills that, “said Tomáš Bouzek, Deputy Mayor of České Budějovice (TOP 09).
In the first stage, the project includes 145 apartments from the smallest studios to four-room. “20 percent of this should be social housing, for which we will want to obtain a subsidy,” said Bouzek. In addition, 155 parking spaces should be created in parallel with the first stage. The second stage also includes three apartment buildings, the appearance of which should be identical to the buildings built in the first stage. However, the second part of the project could probably already be financed by a private investor.
The residential area will be located near the winter stadium in Čtyře Dvory. According to the town hall management, this is one of the city’s largest projects in recent times. Construction could begin in two years. These will be city rental apartments. The location of the new residential complex is in the area of the former military training ground and barracks, which occupied an area of 50 hectares in the northwestern part of the city.
