GUS: Exports of oils, fats and waxes grew the fastest in January-March – by 34.6% y/y

The fastest growth in exports in January-March 2021 was related to oils, fats, waxes, animal and vegetable (by 34.6%), inedible raw materials except fuels (by 27.1%) , various industrial products (by 19.9%), machinery and transport equipment (by 17.3%), industrial goods classified mainly by raw material (by 14.6%), chemicals and related products (by 10.9%) and food and live animals (down 6.3%), the Central Statistical Office (GUS) reported.

In the first quarter of this year, the commodity turnover according to the SITC nomenclature, compared to the same period in 2020, saw an increase in most commodity sections, both in import and export. The decline in exports was recorded, among others, by in mineral fuels, lubricants and derivatives (by 6.8%) as well as in beverages and tobacco (by 2.1%), the Office reported.

In imports, the largest increase was recorded, among others, in various industrial products (by 18.1%), in industrial goods classified mainly by raw material (by 16.6%), in chemicals and related products (by 14.7%), in inedible raw materials, with the exception of fuels (by 13.5%), in machinery and transport devices (by 11.5%) and in beverages and tobacco (by 3.9%), while a decrease was observed, among others, in mineral fuels lubricants and derivatives (by 4.8%).

The Central Statistical Office informed Monday that exports increased by 8.3% y / y to EUR 66.3 billion in January-March 2021, while imports increased by 6.1% in this period and amounted to EUR 63.9 billion.
