The Regional Hospital in Svitavy plans to invest more than half a billion crowns in the gradual reconstruction of wards. “The aim of the project is to create a modern inpatient pavilion for the provision of medical care. The reconstruction envisages the partial demolition of one and the construction of a new building,” said Michaela Matoušková (STAN), Deputy Governor for Health.

The reconstruction should reduce the operating costs of inpatient departments and eliminate various technical defects in buildings. Part of the plan is to move the pathology operation to another part of the complex.

The Pardubice Region has previously announced that it wants to modify the facilities at the Svitavy Hospital for almost CZK 125 million and create an intensive care unit (ICU) for surgical specialties. He would like to get part of the necessary money from the European REACT EU program. The capacity of the ICU of surgical operations will be expanded by three beds. The project will also include the acquisition of hospital equipment.

The Svitavy Hospital admits over 11,000 patients to its beds each year. It has 600 employees, making it one of the largest employers in the city.
