The Prague municipality will relax renters rents for operating front gardens on roads belonging to Prague in June and July. Councilors should approve the move next week. If they have a garden on the land managed by the city district, the decision on a discount or forgiveness of rent will be from the town hall from 1 June. Prague councilor Jan Chabr (TOP 09) said this Monday. The city will also address the amount of rent for entrepreneurs located in non-residential premises belonging to the city. Each will decided by the city individually.
The rent for the restaurant gardens is paid to the city district and the landowner. “I will propose to the council of the capital city a waiver of rent for the next two months in the case of land owned by Prague,” said Chabr.
When this period expires, the city will adjust the rental relations with the operators from 1 August so that in the Prague monument reserve it pays 30 percent of the original rate and outside the reservation it will be 50 percent of the original rent. “As the rental rate in the Prague monument reserve is higher and according to the available data, there are far fewer people here, such a step will take place,” said Chabr.
In recent months, Prague has so-called attracted decisions on the amount of rent for front gardens, and city districts have not been able to decide on them during this time. According to Chabr, the town halls agreed to this until May 31, 2021, but then they want to decide on the fees themselves again. “From June 1, it will be in their competence again,” Chabr said.
According to the councilor, the city will continue to provide discounts on rent in non-residential premises. “We have a prepared methodology and we will approach it individually. Although the restrictions on the operation of establishments will end, not everyone will have the rent,” he added.
Last year, the municipality forgave the fee for the occupation of public space for restaurant gardens. He also invested 600 million crowns in the COVID Prague program to support companies. Rent for entrepreneurs is forgiven or cheaper by city councils.
