Residents with housing risk needs will find help at a new contact point in Prague 14

People in housing need will be able to come to a new contact point for housing in Prague 14. The municipality will provide the town hall with a non-investment subsidy of approximately CZK 835,000 for its establishment. The Prague councilors decided on Monday. The contact point in Prague is to help residents at risk of housing need to resolve the situation and prevent the loss of housing. The City Hall of Prague 14 is the sixth city district where such a place operates.

The contact point will help people with benefits, resolve debts or provide them with legal advice. They will also find real estate assistance here and employees will help them orientate themselves in the offers of flats and fill in the application for a city flat.

“Contact points are an essential tool in this area, thanks to the wide range of counseling from various areas, which the citizen gets in one place,” said Prague Councilor Adam Zábranský (Pirates).

Last year, the same subsidy for the establishment of the center was allocated to Prague 3, 7, 10, 12 and 22. Other town halls can also participate in solving the housing situation in Prague through cooperation with the social housing program.

In recent years, Prague has been facing a housing crisis, due to low construction and high housing prices. There are a total of about 30,000 flats owned by the municipality and city districts, out of the original number of 194,000, which after 1991 became the property of the city. This was followed by privatizations, which reduced the city fund by about 85 percent.
