McDonald’s business in Romania fell by 8 percent last year in the context of the Covid-19 pandemic that affected the restaurant market worldwide. Thus, the company reached sales of just under EUR 180 million, compared to over EUR 194 million before the pandemic.
McDonald’s business in Romania is operated in a franchise system by the Maltese company Premier Capital, which also manages the networks in Estonia, Greece, Latvia, Lithuania and Malta.
Overall, the group’s business decreased by 6.5 percent compared to 2019, all markets being affected by the pandemic. The hardest hit was the business in Malta, which fell by 15.7 percent, while the decline in Romania and Greece was similar, by 8 percent.
