The owner of the Energy and Industrial Holding (EPH) and the owner of Sparta football, Daniel Křetínský, has suspended the construction of a luxury hotel for several billion crowns in Prague’s Letná. The reason is the decline in tourism due to measures against the spread of coronavirus. The investor is now also considering modifications to the project, especially in the interiors. This was stated today by the News List server. The opening of the complex was originally planned for the first half of 2023.
“During the preparatory work, a coronavirus epidemic came, which raised a number of questions about the continued operation of conferences, tourism and the hotel sector in general.
The five-star hotel is growing up on the canceled Sparta football training field in Prague’s Letná. The hotel complex is to have 523 rooms, conference facilities, a restaurant, skybar, fitness and spa. The tenant of the building is Hard Rock International, which operates a network of hotels, casinos, shops and cafes in 75 countries. However, according to the List of News, this is not certain either.
He did not disclose the estimated cost of building the hotel EPH. In October 2019, the monthly Forbes stated on its website that the complex should cost five billion crowns.
EPH was founded in 2009. The companies that are part of the EPH group employ around 25,000 people. The holding includes over 70 companies throughout Europe. According to last year’s ranking of Forbes magazine, Křetínský is one of the richest Czechs with assets worth 78 billion crowns.
