Tests in the Czech Republic on Monday confirmed 2560 new cases of Covid-19. In a week-on-week comparison, this is a decrease of 777 cases, ie about a quarter. The number of doses given against the new coronavirus was almost a tenth lower on Monday. At present, there are 156 new cases of the disease per 100,000 inhabitants in the last seven days. It was 163 on Monday. According to data on the website of the Ministry of Health.
Since the onset of the epidemic last March, more than 1.6 million people in the Czech Republic have been shown to be infected with the new type of coronavirus. approximately 95 percent of them have already recovered from the disease. On the contrary, 29,075 people with a proven Covid died.
The reproduction number indicating how many other people on average infect one positive test fell very slightly on Monday. As on Sunday, it stays around 0.88. Below the break value of one is the thirteenth day in a row.
The daily numbers of newly detected cases have been declining for several weeks now. There have been 83,000 of them since the beginning of April, while in the first 26 days of March it was 271,000, more than three times as many. April’s daily maximum is 7051 cases per day, in March it was 16,777.
Recently, the daily number of deaths has also been lower. Since April 10, more than a hundred people with a proven infection have never died. On average, there are 86 deaths per day in April, compared with 192 cases per day in March.
There are 156 new cases of the disease in the Czech Republic per 100,000 inhabitants in the last seven days. However, there are big differences between regions. While in the Vsetín district, where the epidemic is currently spreading the fastest, it is 304 cases per 100,000 inhabitants per week, in the Cheb region 26. In addition to the Vsetín region, the infection is spreading the fastest in Zlín and Prachatice, where 295 and 288 newly confirmed cases per 100,000 population in seven days.
The slowdown in the spread of the coronavirus epidemic in the Czech Republic is also reflected in a lower burden on the health care system. There were 3,198 patients with covid in hospitals on Monday, 1,100 less than a week ago. There were 685 patients with covid in severe condition on Monday, 225 less in the week-on-week comparison.
In the whole of the Czech Republic, almost 30 percent of the standard hospital beds with total oxygen were available this morning. 2008 were reserved for covid patients. A quarter of them are unoccupied beds with artificial lung ventilation.
Laboratories performed a total of 206,000 antigenic and PCR tests for coronavirus on Monday. Compared to the same day of the previous week, it was almost 68,000 fewer tests, but the comparison may be affected by the fact that test data enter the statistics with a delay.
The share of positives in preventive tests, which make up the vast majority of the total number, was 0.18 percent on Monday, the same as a week earlier. In the so-called epidemiological indication, where people are tested, for example, for possible contact with the infected, the proportion of positive dropped slightly to 4.36 percent from almost 4.5 percent a week ago. The situation is the same with the diagnostic indication, when people showing symptoms, for example, are tested. The share of positive here fell on Monday from a week-on-week comparison from 11.8 to 10.6 percent.
Healthcare professionals in the Czech Republic administered 53,115 doses of covid vaccines on Monday, almost a tenth less in the week-on-week comparison. 2,880,293 doses have been administered since the start of vaccination. 954,656 people are fully vaccinated.
