Brno has set aside the first 12 flats for single people. The apartments are now being reconstructed. Once the repairs have been completed, a tender could be opened for candidates. The expected date is in June, said Radka Loukotová from the press department of the municipality.
A new category of municipal flats reserved for single parents and their children was set aside by representatives at the last meeting at the end of March. Councilors have now selected the first 12 apartments in two just renovated houses. “Single-parent flats have a similar purpose as start-up flats, namely to give people time and space to find a longer-term solution for their housing situation, whether it is a search for funds for commercial housing or a mortgage or a regular municipal flat, “said the mayor’s deputy Jiří Oliva (ČSSD).
According to him, start-up and single-apartment flats are first aid. “Lease agreements are concluded for three years with the possibility of extension for another two years, and then the apartment will be vacated again for other waiters,” said Oliva.
Seven apartments for single parents with children will offer a renovated historic house in Křenová Street known as the former customs house. Of the original four flats, seven will be created after a complete reconstruction, of which five are available 2 + kk and twice 1 + kk. A non-residential space will remain on the ground floor of the building, which can be used, for example, as a café with seating in the adjacent garden. The work will end in mid-June. The councilors set the rent at 90 crowns per square meter.
Another five units of 2 + kk and 2 + 1 will be created in a house in Vlhká Street. In addition to single housing, there will be social housing. The house will have a total of 17 apartments, councilors have set the rent at 63.51 crowns per square meter. “As soon as the approval of the house is approaching, we will announce a selection procedure in which every single, widowed or divorced person who does not live with the species will have at least one dependent child under the age of 18 and meets other set criteria. “Oliva added. The tenants will then select the tenants by lot. The precondition for moving in is in the summer.
