Belgrade becomes the second headquarters of the NLB Group

23 March 2021

NLB Group in Belgrade is building a competence center for the development of common platforms for banks in the region, and since they are the heart of the future business model of banks as technology companies, it means that Belgrade is becoming the second headquarters of NLB Group, announced Blaz Brodnjak, NLB CEO. It is noticeable that in Serbia, as elsewhere, more savings are made during the pandemic, but Brodnjak expects that after the health situation improves, consumption will rise again.

This, he says, creates good jobs, not only for people from the world of finance, but also for IT enthusiasts. Asked whether there will be layoffs of employees in Komercijalna Banka due to the takeover, but also digitalization, Brodnjak stated that NLB Bank had 4,200 employees ten years ago, and that in the next few years, as he says, it will have 2,100 mostly with slight departures. hence twice less. He explains that this is a consequence of the improvement of technologies and the behavior of clients, who go to bank branches less and less, so there are fewer banking jobs, and on the other hand the need for staff with IT profiles skilled in data management increases significantly.

Brodnjak states that the ambition of the group he heads is to become the leading banking institution on the Serbian market, and that, he explains, is possible only if price and experientially competitive solutions are offered. He believes that there are many opportunities for partnership with the public sector in the realization of these plans.
