16 February 2021

The construction of the EUR 526 million Peljesac bridge in southern Croatia is expected to be completed in 2022, Croatian prime minister Andrej Plenkovic said. The bridge sections should be connected by the end of the year, while the completion of the access roads is expected by June 2022.

The Peljesac Bridge is the largest and most significant project currently funded by the European Union, 2.4 kilometers long, 55 meters high with four traffic lanes, it will bridge the Mali Ston Bay between Komarna and Brijesta on Peljesac in the Dubrovnik-Neretva County.

The construction of the bridge will have 33,700 tons of steel, and work on it is taking place 24 hours a day. For Croatia, it is a strategic project because it will finally connect the south with the rest of the country.
