In December 2020, the seasonally adjusted volume of retail trade rose by 2.0 percent in the euro area and by 1.4 percent in the European Union, compared with November 2020, according to estimates from Eurostat. In November 2020, the retail trade volume fell by 5.7 percent in the euro area and by 4.9 percent in the European Union. The annual average retail trade for the year 2020, compared with 2019, fell by 1.2 percent in the euro area and by 0.8 percent in the European Union, informed Eurostat.
