BNR Deputy Governor Cristian Popa said that the central bank estimates economic growth between 3 and 4 percent for this year, but BRD economist Florian Libocor advanced a growth forecast of only 1.4% in 2021, admitting that it is the more pessimistic in the market at this time. He warned that economists do their calculations according to the signals they see in the economy and it is possible that some of them see risks that others do not see.
“We expect a moderate return. 2022 will be the year in which we will recover the losses from 2020. The economy will return to the level of 2019 in the middle of next year. We see the increase between 3% and 4%. Something more optimistic than that of Mr. Libocor,” said the BNR Deputy Governor, Cristian Popa.
