Alessandro Bragonzi is the new head of the regional office of the European Investment Bank (EIB) for the Western Balkans, and he succeeded Dubravka Negre, whose mandate ended in January. He was appointed to this position by the Bank of the European Union. As it was announced, Bragonzi has been employed in the EIB for 11 years. He stated that the Western Balkans was seriously affected by the pandemic, which is why he is sensitive to future shocks. He says the EIB’s priority is to strengthen its economic and health system, as well as its commitment to a sustainable and green recovery.
Vice President Ljiljana Pavlova, responsible for EIB activities in the Western Balkans expressed confidence that Bragonzi, as the new regional representative, will significantly contribute to activities in the field of transport connectivity, small and medium enterprises and the development of vital infrastructure, digitalization, green transition and innovation.
Since 2009, the EU Bank has invested EUR 8.6 billion in regional infrastructure and private sector development, and the EIB will continue to support the entire region on the road to recovery from the kovida-19 crisis, joining the EU and creating a sustainable common market.
