Glovo’s food delivery platform has entered into a EUR 100 million strategic partnership with Stoneweg SA, a real estate company in Switzerland, to expand its delivery network in countries such as Spain, Italy, Portugal and Romania. The Barcelona-based company plans to increase its delivery and storage space from 18 to 100 by the end of the year. Among the locations targeted by the company are cities such as Bucharest, Porto, Rome and Valencia. The money will be used to improve the quick-commerce business division, which offers the possibility to deliver a package in just half an hour, as orders have increased by 300% compared to last year. Glovo and other food delivery companies saw a significant increase in operations during the COVID-19 pandemic, as traffic restrictions forced restaurants to close their doors and accept orders only expressly.
