The Russian government has extended subsidy programs to support airports and airlines amid the pandemic, according to Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin. Initially the support measures were designed for the period from February to July and now air carriers can receive partial compensation for their losses for the period from August to November.
“More than 34 billion rubles (USD 465 mln) have already been allocated to stabilize the operation of the aviation industry amid the spread of coronavirus. The extension of subsidy programs will help this sector overcome financial difficulties, and most importantly, maintain human resources,” Mishustin said. “The corresponding government decree has already been signed,” he added.
