The Council of Ministers adopted a resolution on the adoption of the National Vaccination Program, Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki informed. He confirmed that Poland has contracted over 60 million doses of vaccines from six pharmaceutical companies. Vaccines are to be free and voluntary, vaccination is scheduled to start in the first quarter of 2021.
So far, the government has reserved PLN 3 billion for the vaccination process, and these funds – as announced by the Prime Minister – may be doubled.
“After intensive consultations among specialists, experts, virologists, epidemiologists, and infectious diseases specialists, today we present to you the National Vaccination Strategy adopted by the Council of Ministers. We have contracted over 60 million doses from six companies, which were the first to submit their documentation for approval by relevant medical agencies We will not spare funds for the vaccination process, it is already budgeted PLN 3 billion, but also funds for all facilities that will vaccinate, which will almost double this number “- said Morawiecki during a press conference.
He emphasized that although a smaller number of new cases of COVID-19 has been observed in recent days compared to the situation a few weeks ago, a change in the restrictions is not considered.
“Although in our last few weeks the situation is better, but there is no point in pretending that the virus is defeated, that the situation is so good that one can think about changes in various areas of social life and economic life towards defrosting. Yes no is. […] We focus on a vaccine, on this national vaccination program, but also on Thursday, Minister of Health Adam] Niedzielski will present the results of our analyzes, which are currently conducted “- he stressed.
The National Immunization Program is a document that contains information on: the effectiveness and safety of vaccines, the purchasing and financing process, distribution and logistics, medical recommendations and organization of vaccination points, vaccination sequence, communication and public education, program monitoring, entities involved in the program.
According to the head of the Chancellery of the Prime Minister, Michał Dworczyk, the strategy includes a broader involvement of local government units in the sphere of information and promotion, as well as proof of persons to vaccination points. It is also planned to create a Compensation Fund for people who develop adverse vaccine reactions. A bill in this regard is to be presented in the coming days.
The Minister of Health, Adam Niedzielski, announced that from tomorrow a special helpline will be operating at the number, where it will be possible to obtain information on vaccinations (at number 989), and from mid-January, it will also be possible to book vaccination dates at this number.
