The CEO of the Budapest Development Centre David Vitezy said during an online conference called Hung CafControl that the new rail line that is to connect Terminal 2 with the city will be underground. The works on the project should begin in 2021 and will connect the airport with Nyugati and Kelefold stations carrying 10 trains per hour. Vitezy said that the plans are in place and the only thing holding back this investment to kick-off is the formal agreement with the owners of Budapest Airport, who make a significant profit from taxi ranks and bus tickets connecting it with the city center.
