Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban in an interview for television station Hir TV has stated that the VAT rate on buildings constructed before December 31 2022 will stay at 5%. The decision came as part of the tax relief and economic recovery measures caused by the coronavirus. Before the outbreak of the epidemic the VAT rate stood at 27%, but a drop in sales has caused the government to take new measures.
