Most companies connected with the airline industry are facing difficult times and are looking for alternative ways of making money. With the number of daily flights falling rapidly, Czech Airlines Technics has seen an enormous drop in the demand for its primary service, which is aircraft maintenance and repairs. This led it to begin offering a place for airlines to park their grounded fleets in airports across the Czech Republic and Slovakia. While on the ground CSAT would carry out regular maintenance checks as well as any needed repairs. “We’re speaking with a number of clients,” said CSAT’s spokeswoman Katerina Pavlikova, who said the company cooperates with the Kosice-based company FlyTec Aviation in contacting airplane leasing firms. Until recently, CSAT, a subsidiary of Czech Airlines, was providing the service to existing customers on an individual basis upon request. Among the airports where planes could be parked are those in Prague, Brno, Ostrava, Kosice and Karlovy Vary.
