Cloud service spending by Czechs rises 27% in 2019

Expenditures on cloud services rose 27.1 percent year-ono-year to $433.1 in 2019 in the Czech Republic, making it the fastest growing sector in IT. According to the IDC, the pace of growth in spending on cloud services is expected to rise 17 percent annually until 2024. Software as a Service (Saas) poducts is by far the most popular product, making up more than 74 percent of spending, while Paas (Platform as a Service) now accounts for 11.7 of the market. The ten largest providers of cloud services control more than half of the market, with Microsoft the clear leader. It’s followed by Unicorn, SAP, Salesforce and Amazon Web Services. “The Czech market for cloud services is marked by a relatively high level of competition,” wrote the IDC, which added that local telecoms and data centers are competing alongside the traditional global providers. The Czech services industry is the biggest spender on cloud services (23.5 percent), followed by industry (18.5 percent) and trade (12.5 percent). Companies in the financial sector are responsible for just 10.1 percent of all cloud service spending.
