Slovakia adds Czechia to risky country list

15 September 2020

Slovakia has placed the Czech Republic on its list of risky countries as its rate of new Covid-19 infections continues to rise. Only Czechs whose regular jobs take them no further than 30 km inside Slovakia’s borders will be allowed to visit the country without providing a negative test or undergoing a period of self-isolation. Just as concerning for the Czechs, Germany is close to closing its borders to open travel for the same reasons. Germany’s cut-off point for placing a region on its high-risk list is more than 50 cases per 100,000 residents over the past seven days. Several regions in the Czech Republic are currently exceeding that limit. There were 1,038 new cases discovered on Monday, a new record for the first working day of the week.
