After a record breaking 2019 when the Budapest Airport beat a traffic record of over 17 million now, the airport expects to receive 5,5 million passengers by the end of 2020. The airport has already received till the end of August 3,5 million passengers, with 393,665 passengers arriving in August. Lockdown, entry restrictions from mid-march till June have caused that many operators like Wizz Air and Ryanair have already cancelled their flights for the next periods.
