Without the usual number of foreign tourists, the Pendolino fast train will begin offering service to Karlovy Vary. The Pendolio already runs from Ostrava to Pilsen and Cheb via Olomouc and Prague, so the extension of its run is intended to improve access to Czechs across the country. “We’ve already spoken with hotel owners that hotels could try thinking up some kind of support program so that people would use the Pendolino,” said mayor Pfeffer Ferklova. “That means that hotels themselves could connect to the accompanying programs or for some type of support.” Just one train per day will make the entire trip from Ostrava to Karlovy Vary, which is 600 km long and takes nearly seven hours to complete. The other Pendolino trains are used primarily for service between Ostrava and Prague.
