Kaufland is planning to open a new store this fall along Bucharest’s ring road. The German retailer purchased the 25,000 sqm land parcel to develop the store two years ago. The new store will cover an area of approximately 4,500 sqm and will have a standard format. The company is planning to open 28 new hypermarket units in Romania by 2024. Kaufland currently operates 133 hypermarkets in Romania, including 15 locations in Bucharest.
