The second phase of Ferenc Liszt International Airportʼs Pier 1 passenger boarding facility has opened. The first phase of the HUF 11.5bn project was delivered in January. The 11,500 sqm pier at Budapest Airport has eight boarding gates that connect directly to aircraft as well as six that lead to buses that will take passengers to their flights. Construction broke ground last July. “I am very proud of the new pier and the feedback we are receiving from passengers, airline partners, and ground-handlers who are completely satisfied with the new facility,” said Rolf Schnitzler, CEO of Budapest Airport. “This building is one of the gems in our series of airport development projects that have been ongoing for more than a year now, and it clearly demonstrates that the continuous improvement of service quality is our top priority. Over 12 months we spent €100m on development, and we will not stop the process in upcoming years either.”
