219,000 sqm of warehouses built in second quarter

31 July 2020

Most construction work continued as planned even during the darkest period of the lock down in the Czech Republic. This made the completion of 219,600 sqm of warehouse and industrial space possible during the second quarter of 2020, the highest figure since 2017. Ferdinand Hlobil, head of industrial for Central & Eastern Europe at Cushman & Wakefield, says that supply is strong at the moment because of an increasing number of developers investing in the sector. He told the daily Hospodarske noviny that the industrial sector is seeing as more attractive than retail at the moment. Commenting on data from the Industrial Research Forum for the second quarter of the year, he noted that vacancy levels increased only slightly from 4.4 percent in the first quarter to 4.6 percent. Rental levels are also steady, reaching at most €4.70 per square meter per month. The biggest completion during the second quarter was a 29,900 sqm facility at Panattoni Park Cheb that’s being leased bythe German online retailer Real Digital. The biggest lease deal announced for the period was to an unnamed tenant who took 60,500 sqm at CTPark Bor.
