More than 600 municipalities across Hungary were awarded a total of HUF 10 billion as part of the government’s “Hungarian Village” program, according to Alpar Gyoparos, the government commissioner for modern communities. Small municipalities as well as village parishes are eligible to apply for HUF 30 million from the government program. They can use the funding to develop communal spaces. The money will also cover the salary of a community organizer for one year, according to Gyoparos, adding that the projects will develop the infrastructure needed for organizing community life.
