Tourist activity ground to a halt during May, as just 149,800 guests arrived and spent a total of 307,000 overnight stays. That represented a drop of 94.2 percent y-o-y in guests and a 95 percent collapse in overnight stays. However poor, May’s results were still slightly less horrific than April’s, when overnight stays were nearly 97 percent off the pace of 2019. Overnight stays by residents (which represented 74.3 percent of total overnight stays) decreased by 85.9 percent while non-resident stays were 98.4 percent lower as a result of travel restrictions.
