Austria shuts down flights from Western Balkans

15 July 2020

The Austrian government has introduced a ban on air, road, and railway connections to the countries of the Western Balkans. This means that flights are no longer allowed from Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Albania, Northern Macedonia, Bulgaria, Romania, Moldova, and Egypt are no longer allowed to land in Austria. Exceptions are being made for people with urgent medical needs, for the delivery of critical goods or to allow Austrian nationals to return home. If there’s any good news at all, it’s from Lombardy, as Austria has given permission for flights from that region to resume.
