DEVA sends staff home after 17 test positive for Covid-19

The protective clothing producer DEVA based in Frydek-Mistek has sent its entire staff of 95 home until August 3 at the earliest after 17 of them tested positive. Some employees are still waiting for their results, so the final tally of infected could still rise. The company’s director Jiri Dedek said that none of the infected employees were experiencing serious health issues as a result of the virus. Several, he said were shocked to have tested positive as they had no symptoms at all. Frydek-Mistek is located in the east of the Czech Republic in the Moravia Silesia region, which has made the news because of serious outbreaks among miners. Dedek says he still hasn’t figured out how his company’s employees were infected. Upon hearing of the first case, he had everyone in the company tested, earning the praise of the the city’s mayor Michal Pobucky. He called on citizens to stick to the recommendations of hygienists in order to defeat the coronavirus and get life back to normal.
