The Netherlands has signed an agreement that will enable direct train trips between Amsterdam and London, without a transfer in Brussels. Passports will be inspected in Amsterdam or Rotterdam. The trip will take just over four hours from Amsterdam, about an hour less than before.
Infrastructure State Secretary Stientje van Veldhoven signed an agreement with Belgium, France and the United Kingdom. Eurostar service between the Netherlands and the UK was suspended in March as a result of the global health crisis. The direct service will restart on July 9, with at least one connection per day being offered between Amsterdam and London.
This could be extended to two trains in each direction by August, and to three daily trains by the fall. The schedule for expanding the frequency of the service will depend on the development of the pandemic in both countries.
