The city of Vienna is expected to announce that new buildings in the city will have to include green facades. Details of the plan should be published at a municipal council meeting scheduled for June 25, but it’s already known that at least one-fifth of the front of each building should be green. The requirement will be imposed not just on residential areas but even for industrial zones for any building with a height of over 7.5 meters. City officials claim that the first projects with green facades have already been submitted and could start appearing within two years.
