Consumer prices in Poland increased by 2.9 percent y-o-y in May, according to data published by the Central Statistical Office (GUS). The growth was driven by price increases for services (7.1 percent) and goods (1.4 percent). When compared to the previous month, consumer prices fell by 0.2 percent in May, with prices decreasing for goods and services by 0.2 percent each. The highest contribution to the total consumer price index came from transport prices, which decreased by 4.5 percent m-o-m. Higher prices for health (1.6 percent) and food (0.1 percent) items and services helped boost May’s CPI reading by 0.09 percent and 0.03 percent respectively, according to GUS.
