Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez has announced that Spains borders will open to travelers from EU countries in the Schengen area beginning June 21. The exception to this is Spain’s neighbor, where the border will remain closed until July 1st. Those travelling to Spain before June 21 will still have to sit through a two-week quarantine after entering the country.
The exception to this rule is those arriving from Balearic Islands, where a pilot project to restart the tourism sector for German holiday guests has been started. Austria is also considering moving forward travel restrictions still in place for people travelling from Spain, who are currently scheduled to have to wait until July 1.
