May bankruptcies fall in the Netherlands

The number of bankrupt companies in the Netherlands declined by 73 in May compared to April to 259, according to the Netherlands Central Bureau of Statistics. Taken from the beginning of the year, the number of bankruptcies through May was nearly 3 percent higher than for the same period last year. Most of the companies that collapsed were in the catering industry since cafés and restaurants were closed until 1 June. Even now, they can only allow in a limited number of guests.

Dutch banks have supported 180,000 businesses as well as consumers with loans or payment deferrals whose volume is over €15.2bn.
